Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. Then, in 1992 she was appointed chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering for the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy news stories throughout time, including budget reform, tax reform as well as an investigation into the Iran Contra saga. She traveled extensively along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
